ABOUT THIS PROJECT

EwC coordinated eNanoMapper (A Database and Ontology framework for Design and Safety Assessment of Nanomaterials), a project funded within EU-FP7 Programme. The overall aim of the applications developed was to support the nano safety assessment activities, including here research and regulatory science.

The project addressed the requirements of safety assessment of nanomaterials by developing a database, analysis tools and ontologies for risk assessment. By merging the expertise of partners in data mining tools and toxicology, eNanoMapper developed also resources and tools for predicting toxicity of nanomaterials and worked towards improving the standards in risk assessment of nanomaterials. The project provided also a rich source of information and documentation (e.g. tutorials, webinars and publications) to support and guide the users.

Moreover, within eNanoMapper we have facilitated a continuous dialogue between stakeholders towards consolidating the international nano environmental and health safety (nanoEHS) community.
